Personally, I find the subject of SS VERY frustrating. I started paying into it on my 15th birthday. I had faked my birth certificate to say I was 16 so I could get a real job. I've been paying into it now for nearly 33 years. A number of those years were, max contributions.
I also have the "luxury" of making full payments. Meaning, I don't have an employer match. As a self employed person, as I have been for the last 25+yrs, I pay the full 15.3% not the 7.65% most people ...
